390932621224If you are in Ragusa Ibla, walking from the Giardino Ibleo to the main Cathedral of St. George, you cannot miss to stop by the restaurant “Ai Lumi”. You might recognize this location, if you are a loving fan of the Inspector Montalbano: this is, in fact, one of the most known restaurants, where the Commissario had dinner.
You may have some doubts about the restaurants that you see on tv, whether they are good in reality too or is it just a show? Well, we can say that “Ai Lumi” is a really good restaurant, where you can find all the freshest food in a very familiar atmosphere.
We went for a mixed fish starter (some raw, some cooked), spaghetti with giant red shrimps and an unbelievable grilled tuna, all accompanied by local white wine. We wanted to have dessert as well (they make them themselves), however, we were so full and satisfied that we could not order anything. The food menu changes partially, depending on the things that were fished on that day and so on.
Overall, we would surely recommend it for tasting a typical meal, fish or meat does not really matter, as it is a real family restaurant, where you will always find a very kind staff (the husband cooks, the wife and the sister in law are taking care of the customers) and fresh food, in addition to a really traditional location made of bare stone and a unique location, in the heart of Ragusa Ibla.
